Leo NFA Cup reaches last 32
The Leo NFA Cup reaches the second round of competition after the preliminary round was played recently. The most lucrative competition in Namibian football saw action-filled games all across the country as clubs battle for places in the last 32 of the 2010 Leo NFA Cup. The last 32 clubs will comprise of 13 regional winners, twp finalists from the Southern Stream with the Northern Stream having three spots, the current 12 Premiership clubs, and the finally the last two clubs that we relegated from the Premiership last season- Chief Santos and Mighty Gunners. The Southern Stream First division will be represented by Tura Magic and Young Beauties after the duo met in their league's final and the Northern Stream will be decided on Saturday at the Mokati Stadium in Otjiwarongo starting off with semi-finals at 8h00 as Eleven Warriors meet Onambula United and two hours later, Robber Chanties and Golden Bees clash in the second semi-final before the final at 18h00. The best losing semi-finalist will join the two finalists in the last 32 of the Leo NFA Cup.
In the second divisions, in Kunene region, Gariseb Orlando Pirates beat Black Africa Warriors 3-0 to advance, Spoilers defeated Red Fighters 1-0 in Khomas and Bee Bob Brothers were victorious in Hardap with a 3-0 win over Nampol. In Karas Region, Try Again defeated Atlanta Bucks 1-0 in the final and Kavango United beat Nampol Real Top Challengers 1-0 to advance into the last 32 from the Kavango Region. Shaluza Chiefs beat Eastern Chiefs 2-1 in the Omaheke final and African Lions bested Golden Fire 2-1 in the Otjozondjupa leg. In the Caprivi region, Space Age are through to the last 32 after beating Black Hawks 1-0 and there was an identical score line for Sailors over Western Spurs in the Erongo region. Young Rangers beat Onathinge United 4-0 in the Oshikoto region while Oshikango United triumphed over Namudjebo FC 2-1 in the Ohangwena region. Omeege United demolished African United 5-1 in the Oshana region's final of the Leo NFA Cup.
The last 32 have been moved from the weekend of February 27 to March 6-7 with venues still to be confirmed.
Winners of the Leo NFA Cup receives N$600 000, with the runner-up to pocket hefty cheque of N$ 250 000 with the two losing semi-finalist to receive N$ 100 000 each. In individual player prizes, the Top Goal Scorer and the Payer of the Series will each be N$ 25 000 richer.

The Namibia National "A" team known as the Tafel Lager Brave Warriors is scheduled to play against their South African counterparts known as "Bafana Bafana" in an International friendly match on March 3, 2010, Durban, South Africa. FIFA TD to Visit Namibia
The Namibia football Association will host FIFA Technical Director Jean-Michel Bénézet early next month as development projects come under the spotlight.
Confirming this news on Monday, NFA secretary General Barry Rukoro expressed his delight with the visit. "It is a great pleasure for Namibia to have Bénézet here since he is the man responsible for most of the developmental projects. We have a lot of these projects recently and would be pleased to hear from here down here", Rukoro stated. He added the NFA was proud of what it has been doing so far: "The visit bears testament to the fact that FIFA recognizes our developmental efforts and this will only mean more support from FIFA and we must all embrace this moment really".
"He don't just visit countries and that is why for us is special if one thinks about all that we are doing in football right now". Bénézet in the letter said he was looking forward to finalizing the current projects that the NFA was undertaking. "Considering the various projects that are taking place in Namibia, I consider important to visit the Namibia football Association in order to finalize the current projects." He added that he will also be "planning the future FIFA/NFA activities for the coming years".
The NFA had in the recent past conducted various FIFA-backed courses in areas of referees, club management, coaching, and other developmental projects aimed at improving the standard of the game in Namibia. Bénézet is expected to meet various big names in Namibia football and also government to express FIFA gratitude for government support. The FIFA TD arrives in Namibia on March 1 and departs back to the FIFA Headquarters in Zurich on March 4.
FIFA regional Development Officer for Administration Ashford Mamelodi will also be part of the Bénézet delegation.

The Tafel Lager Brave Warriors gave a sensational performance to hold South Africa’s Bafana Bafana to a 1-1 draw in a pulsating friendly international on Wednesday night.
Playing at a near capacity Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, Rudolph Bester momentarily shocked the 60 000 odd fans into silence when he put Namibia ahead on 41 minutes. But Bafana Bafana came back strongly in the second half and Katlego Mphela equalised on 70m.

Brave Warriors leave for Seychelles
The Brave Warriors left for Seychelles on Tuesday morning in preparation for their African Championship (CHAN) match on Saturday, 13 March. The CHAN competition only caters for home-based players who ply their trade in local leagues on the African continent. Local based players who have been recalled to the squad are defenders Ralph Ellinger, Gotlieb Nakuta and George Hummel; midfielder Edward Asino and strikers Jerome Louis and Tangeni Shipahu. There are also three new additions in midfielders Martin Kambungu of first division club, Swakopmund FC and Ronald Ketjijere of African Stars; and striker Eusebio Fredericks of Ramblers. The Brave Warriors departed from Windhoek International Airport at 07h00 on Tuesday and will arrive in Seychelles 24 hours later after a round about trip via Johannesburg and Dubai. Saintfiet said the team will have one training session on Wednesday and two on Thursday before the match which is scheduled to take place on Saturday afternoon.

Women Football : Fredericks sent Gladiators through - Angola 1 NAMIBIA 1
Brave Gladiators striker Emerencia Kleintjie Fredericks struck an 86-minute free-kick against Angola to sent Namibia through 3-2 on aggregate to the next round of the Africa Women Championship 2010.
At the Obaka Stadium in Benguela , which also hosted the 2010 Africa Nations Cup, and with about 32 000 spectators cheering on the home team, it was going to be difficult for the Namibia. The team showed great character and held their nerves in such a crucial away match with the first half finishing goalless. But seven minutes into the second half, Angola managed to break the deadlock on the day through their captain and that put pressure on Namibia as Angola were to advance through the way goal rule.
The Jacqui Shipanga coached Gladiators managed disciplined throughout and their determination finally paid off with four minutes to play as Kleintjie Fredericks -returning from a lengthy injury that kept her out of the first leg match in Windhoek- was presented with free-kick on the edge of the box which she duly hit with genuine authority into far top corner to draw Namibia level on the day and 3-2 on aggregate.
The team returns to Windhoek on Monday afternoon and will now be preparing for the second and final round of qualification for the event to be held in South Africa later this year.

Namibia and Botswana drew 0-0 in an Independence Day football friendly at the Hage Geingob Rugby Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
SKW's Ralph Ellinger came at the start of the second half, in place of Michael Pienaar, with a view on next weekend’s CHAN Cup match against Seychelles.
While the uneven rugby pitch hampered quality football, it was also clear that Namibia’s strikers wasted great opportunities through elemental mistakes and poor ball control. The squad

U/17 Four Nations
Namibia will be hosting a four-nation tournament in Walvis Bay during the Easter weekend that will see the best of under-17s in actions.
According to Jakes Amaning NFA Youth Football Coordinator Jakes Amaning the tournament will be played from April 2 to 5 at the Khuisebmund Stadium in Walvis Bay with selected national teams from host Namibia, neighbors Botswana and Angola and Namibia's loyal development friends, Westphalia from Germany.
"We need these kinds of competitions to keep the boys busy and expose them to players at an early age and this platform is so great and has a great track record as far as development is concerned".
The last time this tournament was played was two years ago at the same venue with Westphalia beating Namibia in the final but this time around Amaning says the tables will be turned.
"We recently had the national under-17 championships and we selected the best players and comes the Easter weekend all Namibians who will be there will see for themselves what talent we have in this country", Amaning said.
Namibia will also use the round-robin tournament to prepare for the 2011 Africa under-17 Championship qualifier match against South Africa on April 11 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.

A squad of 26 players starts training camp on Thursday (25 March) in Windhoek under the guidance of Coach Woody Jacobs and his assistants Joseph Swartz and Christy Kuruseb.

All systems go for the Four Nations
All four Nations to compete in the four nations Tournament at Walvis Bay are at the coastal town in what promises to be an exciting Easter Weekend of football.
The tournament is expected to kickoff on Thursday at 16h00 as host Namibia takes on Angola and two hours later Westphalia entertains Botswana at the Khuisebmund Stadium.
On Friday, Westphalia will take on Angola at 16h00 with Namibia to play Botswana at 18h00 and the round-robin competition will on Saturday see Angola facing Botswana at 16h00 and Namibia up against Westphalia at 18h00.
Depending on the points acquired throughout the round-robin phase, the two teams with least points will face off in the third-place playoff match on Monday at 16h00 and the two top team will then contest the final match at 18h00 at the Khuisebmund Stadium.
The teams will depart back to their home destinations on Tuesday, April 6.
The tournament will be vital for Namibia who instead of using players born in 1993 will be using 1994's as they prepare for the 2011 Africa under-17 Championship qualifier match against South Africa on April 11 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
The Namibians will coached by Woody Jacobs who will be assisted by Christy Kuruseb.
Ticket sales for Leo NFA Cup - NFA News 26/ April 2010
The NFA secretariat wishes to inform football loving Namibians that this week is the last-eight of the lucrative Leo NFA Cup and there are measures in place as far as ticket sales are concerned.
Staring off with the Thursday night match at the Khomasdal Stadium, between Civics and Ramblers, the public is advised that ticket sales for match will exclusively be at Soccer House in Katutura, behind the central shops, Richard Kamuhuka Street from 8h00 to 15h00.
For the African Stars / Sport Klub Windhoek match on Friday, ticket sales will also be from 08h00 to 15h00 on Friday at Soccer House
while for the two semifinals matches at Otjwarongo's Mokati Stadium on Saturday afternoon, tickets will be sold at the Gate.
This gesture is taken to avoid crowd inconveniences at the Khomasdal Stadium, particularly for the match between African Stars and SKW on Friday at 19h00.
Gates in Windhoek will open from 17h00 and at Otjiwarongo at 11h00.

Gladiators Prepares for Equatorial Guinea Clash - 23 April 2010
The National Women soccer team, the Brave Gladiators prepares for their much anticipated clash against Africa Women Championships title holders, Equatorial Guinea in May.
According to the NFA Women Desk, after beating Angola 3-2 on aggregate, Namibia will have the whole of SADC behind them as they face off against the defending champions Equatorial Guinea on May 22 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium as they face the very physical side. The youthful Namibia side comprising manly of players coming through the ranks have already started with their preparations for the encounter but the official camp will start on May 9 at Soccer House as they prepare for the gigantic clash. The coach of the team Jacqui Shipanga is looking forward to the game and thus stressed thorough preparation as key to success. "These players have been around for the past four years and it is always great when you have to bring down the giant and for us, the whole team is looking forward to the game against such as highly rerated Equatorial Guinea side" she said. E. Guinea has become an overnight powerhouse of African women football in 2008 after dethroning Nigeria who has won all the previous seven Africa Women Champions. "It will be huge game for us and knowing that our sisters South Africa will be hosting the Championships later this year, it is even highly motivational to push till the end. "It won't be easy and that is why we have to prepare meticulously", Shipanga said.

THE national under-17 football team is officially out of the Africa Youth Championship race after losing to South Africa by 2-0 on Saturday.
The youthful side were defeated by 3-0 in their first-leg encounter at the Sam Nujoma Stadium a fortnight ago, and this left Namibia with the daunting task of overcoming what proved to be a mammoth challenge as they could not score the four goals needed to remain in contention.
Speaking to Nampa yesterday, under-17 national coach Woody Jacobs said he is not disappointed with the defeat at all. According to him, the boys did extremely well as they held South Africa to a goalless first half and initially performed better, compared to their lacklustre performance a fortnight ago.
“The boys need exposure to more international friendly matches, and we will continue working with them”, said Jacobs. He further felt that the boys needed to be totally exposed to international matches. Once they graduated to the under-20 and under-23 national teams and eventually into the senior side, it would be “mission accomplished”. He added that finances are the worrying factor, but he hoped to present a proposal to the Namibia Football Association’s Technical Director Klaus Staerk and the association’s top management.
The under-17s will now have a training camp in Keetmanshoop in the Karas Region, as they hope to play against soccer academies from South Africa and the national under-17 teams from countries like Angola, Botswana and Lesotho as preparation for the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations’ (COSAFA) under-17 tournament slated for December. – Nampa

We have received a letter from African Stars signed by their Mr. Brian Makari on the matter concerning the quarter final match between African Stars and SKW.
First of all we have noted that the same letter was also send in the form of blind copies to the media, which we regard quite a sinister move from African Stars to put unnecessary pressure on the NFA.
It is by now common knowledge that NFA and Leo have done all efforts to organize matches of the Leo NFA Cup at the Sam Nujoma Stadium. The City of Windhoek has not been cooperative in creating the necessary conditions for the matches of the Leo NFA Cup to take place at that venue. You will be aware that we have organized the matches of the round of last sixteen at the same venue. If you were present you will have appreciated that the atmosphere was not conducive for a competition of that magnitude.
It is against that background that the Sponsors and the NFA decided to not use the facility under the circumstances. While we appreciate your concern we hope that you also understand that NFA has a responsibility to organize this competition and will relay on your support to do so successfully. The total absence of the sponsors branding at the venue created a flat atmosphere at the matches. The normal euphoria associated with this competition was totally absent. Continuing to play under those conditions will destroy this competition.
We are aware of the example African Stars are citing in their letter as we were there ourselves. However we hope that you will appreciate that the match on Friday, 23rd April 2010, was organized totally differently from the upcoming one.
We have consulted the City of Windhoek on the allowed number of spectators and will strictly sell only that number of tickets to the public.
Tickets will only be sold on Friday, 30th April 2010 at Soccer House from 08H00 to 15H00. Only fans holding tickets will be allowed to approach the stadium. It is here that we are sure we need your support by and that of calling on your supporters not to come to the Stadium if they do not have tickets to the match.
We have also decided that no alcoholic beverages will be sold at the venue.
Apart from that the normal security measures will be strengthened
Finally NFA shall not expect African Stars to take responsibility if we allow more fans then the allowed number of spectators. The club will remain responsible for those spectators who are allowed in the stadium on the basis that they bought tickets for the match.
The club will also be responsible should any of their fans, who could not buy tickets, try to force their way into the Stadium.
All of us, African Stars included, are therefore advised and requested to work with NFA to call on the fans not to come to the stadium if they do not hold tickets to the match.

Injuries hit Gladiators ahead of Crucial Guinea match
The Brave Gladiators preparations for the vital African Women's Championships qualifier against Equatorial Guinea are marred by injuries to key players but the team management is hopeful they will pull through for the Sunday afternoon clash.
With experienced defender Mammie Kasaona all but out of the fixture, Team Manager Jackey Gertze have also revealed that captain and defender Queen Manga is racing against time to see her right ankle ready for Sunday, together with Stacey Naris, and Zenatha Cohlman . "These players sustained injuries in our match against South Africa last weekend but the medical team is hopeful they will pass a late fitness for the vital match against Equatorial Guinea. Naris also featured on Tuesday in a friendly match and so she is getting there". Gertze said. Gladiators coach Jacqui Shipanga will be blessed to have back the services of utility goalkeeper Merriam Swartbooi, who can also play as a defender and also making return from injury is midfielder Charmaine Swartbooi, who scored two goals against Angola in the last round of qualification for the2010 Championships.
"It is very important that the public comes and support the girls on Sunday at 16h00 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium because from experience, the 12th man always makes the difference as that will motivate the girls more". Gertze plead.

NFA Technical Director Klaus Staerk, who is adviser to Shipanga and her assistant Bryan van Staden echoed Gertze sentiments and cautioned about the opponents. "from our sources and also from South Africa last week, we have learned that Guinea is such a muscular team that will difficult to beat and them being current African champions after dethroning Nigeria, it will be challenge for all of us to do whatever we can in our own rights to ensure that the girls enjoy themselves and also fight to a good result". Namibia reached this of the qualifiers courtesy of a 3-2 aggregate win over Angola and have a chance to book a place at the South Africa October 2010 Showpiece if they overcome Equatorial Guinea over two legs.

THE Namibia Football Association will host a three-day administration and management course for its affiliates this weekend. The course is part of the NFA’s policy of empowering members in football administration and management, ensuring that the game is elevated to its rightful level.
“Some of us have learned a lot through FIFA courses and it is now time for us to share our expertise with others so that we all have a similar if not the same understanding of how to do things,” said Barry Rukoro, secretary general of the NFA.
The course starts on Saturday at the Midgard Country Estate and participants will be brought up to date on the association's latest development programs and how to deal with finances.
Other issues to be covered include marketing, events management and competitions to be complimented by discussions and reports from the members on these topics.
The delegates will also be introduced to the new registration and competition management systems that the NFA have acquired from CAF, aimed at easing player movement and the management of competitions.
Presenters and facilitators have been selected from amongst the members of the association based on their training and knowledge of the topics at this information sharing meeting.
Meanwhile the NFA Coaches Association is to be established in September during a special seminar organised by the technical director, Klaus Staerk.

Gladiators off to junior World Cup - 15 July 2010
NAMIBIA’S Young Gladiators will leave for Germany this Sunday to attend the 2010 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup. The junior women’s World Cup started this week and will run until 1 August. The Namibian side has been invited by the Deutsche Fußball-Bund (DFB) and will play a series of friendly games against German teams during the World Cup.
The DFB is covering all financial costs while the Namibia Football Association (NFA) is paying for the travelling expenses. Jacqui Shipanga, the coach of the national side, already left for Germany to attend a FIFA coaching course along with youth coach Salome Iyambo. Said Shipanga: “...this opportunity will give us first-hand experience for future work as coaches, provide opportunities to share best practices and create positive results so that we can pass our knowledge on to other regional and local coaches.” Shipanga will team up with the rest of the Namibian squad in Germany.
“Personally this is what I have been waiting for, to play against European opposition. And it will not only require great physical preparation, but it will improve tactical flexibility, display good individual technique, keeping ball possession and converting goal scoring opportunities. These are all crucial aspects of the game and I would like to see our team demonstrating them during the tour,” said Shipanga. She said the team will be training twice a day and will play at least four friendly matches against strong opponents.

Under-20 face Botswana in Friendlies
Despite the reverting FIFA world Cup underway, Namibian youth will take on their Botswana counterparts this weekend as preparation for the Africa Youth Championships gets into gear.
A squad of 20 players leaves for Gaborone on Thursday to play friendly matches against Botswana, one on Friday and the second one on Sunday.
This came about the request by the NFA to the Botswana FA to offer the under-20 sides of both countries a chance to flex some muscles as they both prepare for the Africa Youth Champions qualifiers due to start towards the end of July.
The Namibian team will take on the reigning world youth champions Ghana on July 25 in Accra with the return leg in Windhoek on August 7, and according to Jakes Amaning, the Team Manager, and the lads are rearing to go.
"It has been a long spell without football for these players and they are looking forward to take on Botswana and just rub of the rustiness a they prepare for the Ghana clash. The two coaches are fairly new to the team and the interactions between the coaches and the players have been great and the Botswana test will even take the relationship further".
The two coaches are Ricardo Mannetti and Bernard Kaanjuka, who are also observed and advised by the NFA technical Director Klaus Staerk.
The exciting team consists of various premiership players such as Orlando Pirates Hitman Sidney Urikhob, Afrcia Stars speedy striker Ikwaterua Tjozongoro and the Black Africa attacking duo of Willy Stephanus and Roger Kumbee Katjiteo.

NFA Election Nominations
The Namibia Football Association has the pleasure to inform the nation that nominations for the Association's top-brass elections have been concluded.
Incumbent President John Muinjo will contest for President against Ranga Haikali and former NFA Vice President Viskaya Amutenya on October 2 in Windhoek.
For the Vice President, three candidates will vie for the post namely: Kornelius Kapenda (current Vice President), Franz Mbidi and John Johnny Doeseb of the NPL.
For the seven executive members positions, 12 nominations have been received: Mathew Kalihonda (Kavango), Oscar Mulonda (Caprivi), Vaino Amukwa (Omusati), Dawid Goagoseb (Khomas), Naftali Ngalangi (Kavango), Jacqueline Gertze (Women football), Franz Mbidi (Oshana), John Johnny Doeseb (NPL), Imms Nangolo, Harry Jahrs (Karas), Patrick Mwilima (Caprivi and Stephanus Shimbike (Kunene).
These are the only nominations received by the deadline of August 2 and will now be subjected to scrutiny to confirm their eligibility for elections.

NFA unveils new player registration system - 27 Aug 2010
The Namibia Football Association (NFA) unveiled the new Players Registration and Competitions System that they will be using in order to keep track of Namibian football players.
Tunisian based NARSIL Technologies, through the “Win in Africa with Africa” initiative from FIFA that seeks to provide African football associations with the tools to progress and the skills with which it can continue its own development, installed the system.
The NFA Secretary General, Barry Rukoro, said that the new system would enable the association to have information on its players. “It will enable us to have the data on all the stakeholders of Namibian football,” Rukoro said. “The system can also be used outside the operations of football. We will be able to assist the nation whenever the need arises,” Rukoro continued. The Sales and Marketing Manager of NARSIL Technologies, Khalil Mahjoub said that most African football associations did not have such systems. “In African countries, data bases of players are non existent. As a result there is a lot of age cheating that goes on undetected,” Mahjoub said. “There are also always a lot of problems with identifying players during international matches. Sometimes there are doubts about whether a player is really from the country that he is representing and this system will be able to prove such things.” “The system will also be able to keep useful statistics on players, for example one will be able to find out how many left footed players there are in the country,” Mahjoub added. Jakes Amaning, coordinator of Youth Development Football in the NFA, was happy with the new system because it would minimise age cheating that has rocked African football in recent years. “We would be able to capture the information of every player who plays football for the NFA. In the long term we will be working with the NSSU (Namibia Schools Sports Union) to be able to get the information at an earlier stage in the players life,” Amaning said.
The Namibian Premier League’s (NPL) Windhoek teams will be the first to register their players using the system.
Namibia is the 19th country in Africa to adopt the system and the third in the Southern Africa after Mozambique and Tanzania

India blank Namibia 2-0 in football friendly - The Times of India
NEW DELHI: An impressive India bounced back from back-to-back defeats as they blanked higher-ranked Namibia 2-0 in their third international football friendly match of the month on Wednesday.
Having lost to Thailand in their earlier two matches on September 4 and 8 in Bangkok and respectively, India came up with a much improved show to beat their opponents ranked 44 places above them in the FIFA chart at the Ambedkar Stadium.
Ironically, the win came on a day when India dropped 22 places in the FIFA chart to 160th, one of the worst in the country's history.
Mehrajuddin Wadoo put India in the lead in the 28th minute when his shot landed into the Namibian goal after deflecting from a defender while Anthony Pereira doubled the lead in the 54th minute with a gem of a goal with his curling free-kick from 30 yards finding the back of the net. Read more:

It is now confirmed. Tom Saintfiet has landed the Warriors coaching post.
This is despite vehement statements by Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) president Cuthbert Dube that he would not appoint the Belgian. Saintfiet’s chances of getting into the hot seat appeared to have faded after protracted negotiations and the delay in naming him since Monday. The former Namibia coach will now be assisted by caretaker coach Norman Mapeza and Black Mambas technical director Madinda Ndlovu.
Little-known Richard Tswatswa won the goalkeepers’ coach post while Shariff Mussa will be the team manager. Friday Phiri, who had been touted to become the second assistant has been redeployed to the Under-23 team where he will be assisted by Joey Antipas and Darlington Dodo, with Highlanders legend Peter Nkomo as goalkeepers’ coach. Gunners manager Wellington Mpandare will serve in the same capacity with the team.
Monomotapa coach Taurai Mangwiro becomes the Under-20 mentor where he will be deputised by Mandla Mpofu and Innocent Chogugudza. Dynamos gaffer Elvis Chiweshe, who had been touted to take over the Under-23 post, was named the Under-17 mentor along with his assistants Gift Lunga, Weekly Mwale and James Muhala. But the talking point remains the Warriors post. Mapeza, who led the team to an impressive 1-1 away draw with Liberia, was the favourite for the fans and Dube.
Dube even told a Sunday newspaper that he was not going to appoint Saintfiet. He said: “There were recommendations to appoint the Belgian coach but as the president I have the final word and that decision will have to be changed. “We will soon announce the national team coach and I can assure the nation that we won’t be getting the Belgian coach.” As usual, the Harare businessman did a somersault and never lived up to his word.
Meanwhile, sources yesterday said Mapeza was resisting his appointment: “Zifa is trying to convince Mapeza to work with Saintfiet because they think he is crucial to the set-up.

The NFA will hereby inform the nation that we have learned through media reports that Brave Warriors coach Tom Saintfiet has become the substantive coach of Zimbabwe, after he allegedly agreed terms with Zimbabwe over the weekend. The Football Association can however confirm that we have not received any resignation confirmation from Saintfiet, but will be expecting one soon, after which all the contractual provisions between the NFA and Saintfiet and relevant FIFA regulations will be followed accordingly and approximately. In the meantime, the two assistant coaches to Saintfiet, Ronnie Kanalelo and Brian Isaacs, to be amply assisted by the FA's competent Technical Director Klaus Staerk will lead the team, until such time appropriate for us to appoint a full-time coach.
The NFA Elective Congress
The Namibia Football Association will like to remind the Namibian nation that the scheduled NFA Elective Congress to be held on Saturday, 2 October 2010 will go ahead as planned in Windhoek with all delegates having confirmed their attendance. The NFA would also like to inform that nation that the FA had called upon FIFA Observation of the Congress to which the World Football Governing Body, FIFA have favorably responded. Tanzanian FA President Leodegar Tenga and FIFA's Manager for Member Associations, Primo Corvaro will be in Namibia as FIFA observers at the Congress on Saturday.

The race for the 2012 London Olympics games will start in earnest this weekend as the national under-23 side visits Botswana on Saturday.
The young Namibians have been going through their paces for about three weeks as they prepare for the first preliminary round first -leg match against Botswana in Gaborone at the University of Botswana Stadium. The age-group team that only plays in the Olympics will be coached by the under-20 paring of head coach Bernard Kaanjuka and Ricardo Mannetti and departs to Botswana Wednesday (06 October) with the match slated for Saturday. The team returns on October 10 with the return leg scheduled for Windhoek for December 17th.
Kaanjuka, who has been with the team all this time, left the country, accompanying the Honorable Minister of Sport to the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India and will make the trip to Botswana, Team Manager Jakes Amaning confirmed.
The technical team has assembled a very strong 18-member squad for the match and it is as follows:

NFA president John Muinjo and vice president Kornelius Kapenda both attained crushing victories on Saturday when they were voted into a second term of office at the 20th NFA congress on Saturday.
Muinjo was voted in for a second term as president after beating his challenger Ranga Haikali by 13 votes to three, while Kapenda retained the vice presidency after beating JJ Doeseb by 12 votes to four.

2010 Metropolitan COSAFA Under-20 Youth Championships
Namibia will be expecting a much better showing than last year when they take part in the 2010 Metropolitan COSAFA Under-20 Youth Championships in Botswana.
The young Brave Warriors were humbled 9-0 by then hosts South Africa in their opening match in 2009, before going on to lose 4-2 to Seychelles in their final encounter, a set of results that sent shockwaves through the Namibian football fraternity and brought to an end the coaching reign of Richard Starke and Willem Kapukare.
Those that remain from last year in the Class of 2010 will have learnt from that experience though and the Namibians are likely to be a much tougher opponent this time round.
There are a number of players from the national Under-23 side that competed against the Botswanans in a 2012 London Olympic Games qualifier in October, and the side has a fairly experienced look about it at this level.
They are led by coach Bernhard Kaanjuka and his deputy Ricardo Mannetti, who spent much of his career in the competitive South African Premier League where he played for the successful Santos side.
The squad is made up solely of home-based players, with the Tura Magic club providing seven of the youngsters, the most of any team, but the 2010 Metropolitan COSAFA Under-20 Youth Championships provides these players with the chance to showcase their skills to the many scouts who will be at the tournament from around the continent.
Namibia's best showing at the Metropolitan COSAFA Under-20 Youth Championships was in 2007 when they topped a tough group that also included Angola and Zambia to reach the semi-finals, where they eventually lost to Zimbabwe.

Administrators attend FIFA training
Namibia hosted the FIFA FUTURO III regional instructors course at Midgard Lodge from 19-21 November.
The course was attended by 12 regional instructors from Zimbabawe, Tanzania, Uganda, Swaziand, South Africa, Botswana and Namibia was represented by the Namibia Premier League (NPL) CEO Mathew Haikali.
The meeting was facilitated by FIFA Development Officer and FIFA Instructor Ashford Mamelodi and Jacques Malie from Mauritius and looked at the activities and experience coming from 2009/10 appointment and assignments conducted by the regional instructors.
The meeting also developed various strategies on how the regional instructors, as resources of skills, can be utilized by the various regional football associations.
